HERITAGE
AmÇa’s 1st collection combines Ottoman dress with contemporary streetwear as a way to celebrate my heritage and deepen my understanding of my identity. During the summer, I travelled to Istanbul, where I sourced Turkish fabrics from the city’s fashion and textile district, as well as Turkish carpets from the Grand Bazaar. These materials became central to the development of the collection.
Turkish carpets or “kilims” were an important part of Ottoman visual culture, so incorporating them into my designs felt essential. Their textures, patterns, and cultural significance allowed me to connect traditional craftsmanship with modern silhouettes. Overall, this collection is a reflection of my Turkish heritage, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens to resonate with today’s audience.
